NOVEMBER:

Josh has been hard at work getting this single ready to press! This is a super limited-run lathe cut 7”, each one made individually by hand. A side: LEECHES, B side: WALKING COCO. Rocinante Records is kindly releasing it for us and putting in much time and energy to make it happen.

In order to celebrate, we are taking a break during our fall hiatus to play a fun a show to release the single:

11/13 at the KNOCKOUT: Be Forest (Italy), Tennis System (shoegaze dream boys from LA) & Cruel Summer.

This show is also the DEBUT OUR MUSIC VIDEO! Our amazing creative pals Heidi Petty, Robert Lampe and Aaron Buttig shot this video with us early in the summer, running around our beloved San Francisco. They then edited it with layered colors and textures, using super 8, video and digital formats. They worked so hard on the video and we think it shows! Can’t wait to show it to the world. In the meantime here are some stills:

Jenny Holzer’s work is all about text and structure.  Her text would not have quite as much impact if she didn’t use her variety of presentations, she often takes one statement and uses it in a few different places. By doing this she is able to use the structure to change the meaning.   The statements she uses are read to us in voices rather than a voice. They are free floating, unfixed without contradiction.

Many of Holzer’s phrases are voiced in a feminist perspective.  Although it is said that her work speaks in voices, she says “a women’s voice can be singled out as distinct.” She also claims that her voice comes out distinctly in the voices and that she wants it to be heard.  Holzer depicts her feminist views by allowing her text to be spoken in a group of voices.
